BIKE AND HIKE

Llyn Brenig (10.2 miles round) and Llyn Alwen (7 miles round) are both within 10 minutes drive, easy – moderate routes for biking and walking.  Bikes can be hired at Llyn Brenig and there is a café overlooing the lake.

The Snowdonia, Berwyn, Clwydian and Hiraethog ranges are all within 20 – 45 minutes drive, limitless options for all abilities. 

Clocaenog Forest is on our doorstep and has many tracks and trails to walk and bike.

Foel Gasnach Mountain Bike Trails – round the corner from the farm!

The Llandegla Forest Bike Trails – 17 miles.

ADRENALINE, WATERSPORTS AND MORE

Bala – 14 miles.  Sailing, white water rafting, fishing and many other activities and attractions.

Llangollen 17 miles. Outdoor pursuits both on land and water, heritage and music festivals.

Adventure Parc Snowdonia 23 miles.  The worlds first inland surf lagoon, indoor and outdoor adrenaline adventures.

Zipworld – Unique adventure experiences in 3 locations across North Wales, including the worlds fastest zip wire.

COAST

The closest beach is Black Rock Sands, 45 minutes, with many other beaches of the North and West coast around 60 minutes drive.

FOOD

The surrounding towns and villages offer a wide selection of restaurants and takeaways, many of which showcase the fantastic food produced in our local area.  These are just a few of our favourites:

The Crown Inn – 1 mile.  Our local.  A traditional pub in a beautiful location, overlooking the River Alwen.  Real cask ales and home-cooked food.

Rhug Organic Estate – 6 miles.  Café, takeaway and drive thru.  Open from breakfast until 5pm the menu is focused on using seasonal ingredients from many local suppliers as well as Rhug Organic meat.

Ruthin – 10 miles

Small Plates – informal tapas style food and cocktails, booking essential.

The Sorbus Tree – bistro meals to takeaway and finish at home.  Or in your tent if you have the facilities!  Order in advance for collection Tuesday – Friday.

The Cabin Coffee Shop – quirky, independent little place also serving great cake.

Popty Eryr/ Eagles Bakery and The Bakehouse– both very good bakeries.

Betws-y-Coed – 15 miles

Hangin Pizzeriathebest pizzas by miles, for miles.  Eat in or takeaway, no bookings so just turn up.

The Alpine Coffee Shop – a café with a conscience.  Serving from breakfast including a wide selection of gluten free options.

Olif – Welsh style tapas. Booking advised.

Conwy Falls Café – a very attractive café designed by Sir William Clough-Ellis.  Serving hot and cold food, cakes, snacks and drinks.

Cadwaladers – ice cream parlour

Llangollen – 17 miles

The Three Eagles – vibrant bar and grill.  Check out the tomahawk steak and the cocktail menu.

Gale’s Wine Bar – busy and informal serving great food and expertly picked wines. Breakfast Wednesday – Sunday.

The Cornmill – gastropub in a beautiful old cornmill, situated on the side of the River Dee.

Vale of Clwyd

The White Horse, Hendrerwydd – freshly cooked food with a focus on local, seasonal ingredients.
